Where using wire braided hose is not recommended
A conventional wire braided hydraulic hose is prone to corrosion. Though it is covered with a rubber outer cover, this outer sleeve is porous and hence not a impermeable layer to a saltwater environment. Due to the Corrosion of the wire braid and resulting reduction in the service life of a hose, wire braided hoses are not recommended for marine applications. What then is the solution?

However, it has to be noted that thermoplastic hose has a higher level of volumetric expansion under pressure compared to wire reinforced hydraulic hoses. This can be advantageous in the control of noise as it provides a natural damping effect, but this reduction in stiffness with thermoplastic hoses may be undesirable in high performance systems that demand fast response. There are specially designed thermoplastic hoses for marine applications specifically for systems where fast and accurate response is critical of the operations.
Thermoplastic hoses are widely used in a variety of special applications like airless paint spray, chemicals and water cleaning, air and compressed gases, precision gauging, pilot lines, steering lines, grease systems, solvents and paints as well as applications where moisture cannot be present like for spray foam.
