Industrial Hose?

What really is an Industrial Hose.  A water hose? Air Hose? Suction Hose?

Ok let us clear the air a bit on the Industrial Hose debate.

Let us discuss all kinds of Industrial hoses one by one.

Air and Multipurpose Hose

This is the most common industrial hose designed to handle water, air and mild chemicals.  The inner tube is compatible with light oil spray found in air tool lubricating systems and the braiding is usually a multiple textile to provide flexibility.  The outermost layer is resistant to heat, abrasion and ozone.  These hoses are available from ¼ to 2”  and come in a range of colours for hose routing identification purposes.

Chemical Hose

Chemical hoses come in a wide variety and range to cover in one paragraph, so let us just talk about a basic chemical hose.  These are used in high temperature or high pressure suction and discharge applications.  The cover is resistant to abrasion, most mild chemicals and ozone.  These have a dual wire helix built into the construction of the hose to enable it to handle high pressure and also give it full suction capabilities.

Food and Beverage Hose

Like chemical hoses, there is a wide variety of hoses forthe food and beverage industry.  These are typically used in applications where media like oily and fatty foods, milk, liquids, potable water and sanitary products need to be conveyed.  The F&B hoses are also used for in-plant and tank transfer, delivery and for transport.  End fittings are typically stainless steel and may be re-usable.

Material handling hose

Material handling hoses also come in a wide range and are used in air heating and cooling, dust collection, drying, exhaust ducts, filtering, duct cleaning, fibre collection in textile industry, grinding and cutting and many other such uses.  Industries like injection moulding, concrete plants, sand blasters, vacuum trucks and mulch sprayers use these hoses a lot.

Petroleum Hose or Fuel Hose

As is obvious, this hose is designed to handle all kinds of oil, and refined fuels like petrol, diesel, bio-diesel, ethanol, LPG and even asphalt and hot tar. The inner tube are usually special blends of nitrile, Teflon, nylon or viton.
