The right inner diameter is of great importance to ensure that there is minimal pressure drop in the system, and the energy waste is kept minimal.  Just as higher number f braids affects flexibility of hose, so does the bore size.  Most modern hoses though more expensive than just a few years ago, carry a short bend radius, so check the specifications on the manufacturers catalogue to select the ideal hose for your hydraulic system.

Demanding applications demand specialty hoses, like for use in extreme temperature or for use with special kind of fluids.  For instances, a hose with steel braiding carrying a fluid which is heavily hydro based is quite unsuitable since the braiding will be corroded by the water.  Non-conductive hoses are imperative in systems that involve machinery that deliver electrical utilities.
