Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah (“top of the tent” in arabic), is located in the northen most part of the UAE, boasts of traditional emirati culture and hospitality, sandy beaches and a number of entertainment activities. Ras Al Khaimah historically had a great reputation for its prosperous and busy port and for its most exquisite pearls which were considered whitest and truly round.
Other than a significant contribution from agriculture, recent emphasis on establishment and promotion of free zones and industrial areas has attracted sizeable foreign investments and contributed to its growing economy.
Today, Ras Al Khaimah has also managed to re-invent itself as a unique tourism hub. It is considered as the most scenic of all the emirates as it is blessed with a diverse landscape of coastal strips with salt flats, sandy deserts, mountains and mangroves. It even has sulphur springs near some of the mountanious terrain. Ras Al Khaimah is home a number of mammals like foxes and jerboas and numerous bird species.
There are several five star hotels located along the coastline and some with their own private beaches. Camel rides, owl and falcon bird shows, Golf, tennis, equestrian sports, para-sailing, and a variety of water sports are offered and will keep you entertained if you are the sporty kind. A visit to the Dhaya fort is considered a must for tourists and so is a ride up the Jebel Jais mountains for views that are a sight for sore eyes. The beauty of Ras Al Khaimah is the day life as opposed to the all night long celebrations in Dubai, that stand out.
